Securing Safety and Shelter in the U.S. for Black Migrants

The Challenge

We were honored to partner with Masa DC and the TPS-DED AAC on campaigns to secure safety and shelter for Black immigrants who are currently in the U.S. In many cases, being forced to return to their home countries would mean exposure to violence, conflict, slavery, and even death.

Everyone, regardless of background or skin color, deserves a chance to have safe shelter.

Our Approach

As part of this work, we provided communications infrastructure and strategy. We directly engaged with the press, leading to numerous media hits and mentions. We also coached emerging communicators, supported strategy formulation, built communications how-to manuals, and offered digital content.

The Results

Our contributions supported the successful efforts to protect communities from Haiti, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Yemen in the U.S. by securing Temporary Protected Status. This means that thousands of people who are already part of communities in the U.S. are able to have safety and protection from the harsh, unstable, and even deadly conditions they could face back home.
