Reaching Voters Amid Changing Circumstances
The Challenge
During the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, voting rights advocates throughout the country were facing a notable challenge: How to hold safe elections during an unprecedented health crisis? We were hired to offer communications strategy and structure in support of voting rights advocates in Ohio, who were navigated the hurdle of the early pandemic.

How to hold safe elections during an unprecedented health crisis?
Our Approach
We embedded ourselves in the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, building structures and setting a cohesive strategy for the effort to reach voters and improve access to the ballot. We engaged in constant outreach to reporters, created alignment on strategic messaging, and offered a point of convergence where advocates could coordinate and sharpen their approach to communications.
The Results
Despite contending with an adverse environment, we were able to secure dozens of media mentions and place opinion pieces in support of Ohio Voice’s advocacy. This meant reaching tens of thousands of voters and bolstering the case for more voter-friendly policies and protocols.
