Kayla Henderson-Wood

Kayla Henderson-Wood is a communications strategist and a freelance multimedia journalist. She is pursuing a master's degree in journalism at the University of California, Berkeley this fall.

Kayla’s work has focused on the houseless community through her work at a transitional housing facility for at-risk homeless youth in Portland, OR called New Avenues for Youth. As a bilingual resident advocate, speaking both English and Spanish, Kayla has been able to provide support to youth from Oregon, Honduras, the Congo and Mexico. Kayla has been published in Oregon Magazine, Portland Weekly, Eugene Weekly and more. Kayla graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communications. Kayla enjoys creative writing, folklore and poetry.
